  • What is telematics technology and how does it work?
  • Telematics technology — sometimes known as black box technology — is a great way for drivers and insurers to get information on driving behaviour and style in real time. It works by fitting wireless devices and ‘black boxes' to your car and analysing the data transmitted to us. This way we can offer your driving data to car insurance providers who will propose a premium based on how safe you drive.
  • Who is E Touch Solutions Group?
  • E Touch Solutions is registered in England and Wales under company number 07501618.
  • Who will be able to view my information?
  • A small controlled group of e touch Solutions staff involved in the project as well as suppliers who provide a service to E Touch Solutions. You will be able to track your own data on the Mi Universe Portal on www.MiUniverse.co.uk
  • Will my information be shared with other organisations?
  • No information which identifies you as an individual will be shared with organisations outside E Touch Solutions and their approved suppliers.
  • Who does e touch Solutions work with?
  • E Touch Solutions works with suppliers - these are companies that provide and/or install telematics devices.
  • What happens if I break the speed limit?
  • We strongly advise all drivers to obey the Highway Code and drive in accordance with the law but the data we collect will not be used to influence the cover that we provide to you under your existing insurance.
  • Why would Mi Universe contact me?
  • We may contact you to obtain your views on the data we're showing you to help us develop our customer proposition and also in the event of an accident trigger.
  • If I have an accident this year will you use the data you have collected?
  • Yes, the data may be used in two ways:
    • The technology should alert us of any accidents your car may be involved in. This would then allow us to provide you with any necessary support.
    • In instances of disputed liability (where there is disagreement about who is responsible for an accident) data from the telematics device may be used to help us determine who was at fault.
  • Will you prosecute me for speeding offences?
  • Where corroborating evidence is required to establish a speeding offence, only those devices that are prescribed by the Secretary of State are admissible. Although our GPS telematics devices are accurate enough to build up a good picture of diving habits, they are not prescribed devices and could not be used on their own to prosecute speeding offences.

  • How long does it take to fit the device?
  • The PPD plug-in device can be fitted in a matter of seconds.
  • Where will the device be fitted (location on car)?
  • The Mi Universe PPD is fitted into the cars power point.
  • Will the device damage my car?
  • If you fit the device correctly, then no damage will be incurred.
  • Where will I have to go to get the Mi Universe Plug-in fitted?
  • You fit the device yourself.
  • What happens if I change my car?
  • Simply remove it from the Power Point socket and re-install the unit in your new car. Ensure that you contact us to notify us of any changes.
  • What happens if there's a fault with the device?
  • If there is a problem with the Mi Universe PPD that cannot be fixed over the air, we will organise with you to return the device to us in the pre-paid package and we will send you a replacement.
  • What happens if my car is stolen?
  • You should call the police as soon as possible and then your insurer to report the theft.
  • What happens if my car is written off?
  • If you wish to continue on an insurance policy using the Mi Universe device you simply remove it from the Power Point socket of the old car and re-install the unit in your new or replacement car.
  • What happens if I cancel my E Touch Solutions Insurance policy?
  • We will switch off the device and remove you from Mi Universe. You will be required to remove the PPD and return it in the pre-paid package within 10 working days.
  • What happens at the end of my policy
  • At the end of your policy, you will be required to return it in the pre-paid package supplied within 10 working days.
  • How do I get the device removed?
  • Simply unplug the device and return it using the pre-paid package supplied.
  • What happens if I cancel or don't install the unit?
  • If you don't install and use the Mi Universe device supplied to you then your insurer may reserve the right to remove any discount that they have applied.
  • Will the device void my car warranty?
  • The Mi Universe PPD will not impact the functionality of your vehicle.

  • How do you download Mi Universe?
  • Click on the link provided and download the app from the App Store and Google Play Store. You will need an iPhone to use the App Store or an Android phone to use the Google Play Store.
  • I don't have an iPhone or Android phone. Can I use Mi Universe?
  • Right now, Mi Universe is only available for iPhones and Android phones.
  • How much will the app cost?
  • The app is free to download and use, and is available on App Store and Google Play Store.
  • How much data will the app need?
  • For a typical day's commute of 1 hour each way to work at 28mph, roughly 4.2MB of data will be used which is the size of an average digital photo. Costs will vary by network, but will typically be covered by many contracts.
  • How often does the app send data?
  • The app will send data throughout your journeys. If it can't, then it'll save and send the trip data next time you have network coverage. If you would like data transmission restrictions, they can be applied in Preferences — just click Preferences to alter.
  • How much memory is required to save my driving data?
  • Typical journey data uses less space than a digital photo and is deleted after transmission.
  • What data are you going to collect?
  • Once the app is activated, data will be sent from your car to analyse your driving style - this includes, braking, accelerating, cornering, location, distance and route travelled - by using GPS technology. This information will be used to build up a profile of how, where and when your vehicle is driven.
  • Who will be able to view my driving information?
  • Only your insurer and E Touch Solutions, the provider of the app, will have access to your driving information. We will never release your data outside these parties.
  • What does my Mi Universe score mean?
  • The score is representative of how you drive. A higher score indicates that you are a good driver and vice versa.
  • What can I do to improve my Mi Universe score?
  • Driving sensibly to the conditions of the road, having good road anticipation and no excessive speeding leads to a better score.
  • Could my premium go up at renewal if I get a bad score?
  • Your insurer will consider your score at renewal, which may decrease or increase your premium depending on how well you drive.

  • We are going to collect a variety of data to show us how and when your car is driven. This will include things like time of day, speed and type of road. For more details, please refer to the Terms & Conditions.
  • What will you do with the data you collect?
  • We will analyse the collected data in order to build a picture of driving habits and behaviours. Using this data we hope to provide our customers with access to insurers who may offer better and cheaper insurance. For more details, please refer to the Terms & Conditions.
  • Will my information be shared with the police?
  • In the event that your car is stolen and we are able to locate it, we may share the current location information with the police in order to facilitate its recovery. We will only share data in other circumstances if required to do so by law as is the case with information held about customers now.
  • Will I be able to 'see' any of the information obtained from the device such as printed reports or view it via a web site?
  • Yes, you will be able to track your own data on the Mi Universe Portal on
    www.MiUniverse.co.uk.
  • What will happen to my data at the end of Mi Universe?
  • The data collected during Mi Universe will be kept to support further analysis. For more details, please refer to the Terms & Conditions.
  • How secure is my driving data?
